Ilocos Norte rocked by a 3.9 Magnitude quake

Today, Ilocos Norte was hit by a 3.9 Magnitude earthquake this morning. Seismologist reported that it stucked Ilocos Norte region by 9:34AM and centered in Laoag City. The Intensity III quake rocked Laoag City and Pasuquin town, and still no reports of casualties or damages to properties.

Estrada allowed to visit his Dona Mary on monday

Sandigan Bayan allowed former president Joseph Estrada to visit his mother this monday. Presiding justice Teresita de Castro informed Estrada's lawyer that he could visit his dear mother. It is not yet final but the motion for it is undergoing. Estrada's mother, is in critical condition due to hypertension and now experiencing diffuculty in breathing. Dona Mary is confined in San Juan Medical Center since August 10, 2007. Doctor's said she will undergo operations like tracheostomy, insertion of feeding jejunostomy tube and a cut down procedure to monitor the Central Venous pressure. Estrada is still undergoing house rest due to the decision of guilty to his plunder case.

Smart Network reached 28.5 Million Subscribers

Looking at their billboards outside and watching their TV commercials. I can remember months ago Smart reach the 25 Million mark for their active subscribers. Now they have reached the 28.5 Million number of subscribers as of October 1, 2007. This includes Talk 'n Text subscribers as their Low cost arm. The network said they are expecting 30 Million by the end of the month by their aggressive way to gain more active subscribers. Smart is a PLDT owned network together with Piltel that controls talk 'n text.

MMDA on a roll in demolishing illegal tenants in Malabon

MMDA dismatles almost 100 houses that is built along the waterways of Malabon due to the storms passed in the past few days. Houses located under the bridge along Estrella Street in the city's TaƱong village is seems to be clogging the waterways of Malabon causing massive flooding in the said area. Residents did not resist what MMDA did to their homes and Malabon local officials is trying to relocate the poor homeless residents of the said area. Malabon is very prone to floods when storms come by.

Estrada rejects Palace's "Conditional Pardon"

Yesterday, Former president Joseph Ejercito Estrada rejects President Arroyo's "Conditional Pardon." A radio annoucer interviewed Mr. Estrada in his rest house and said that He won't deal with the Conditional Pardon given by the palace. The deal covers his release in his house arrest but convicting him in his case guilty. Mr. Estrada can't accept it because he believe he is not guilty. Last September, He can only accept absolute pardon that he won't admit what he is accused with. Now, what can Mr. Estrada can do is file his petition in the court to reconsider his case to realese him from his house arrest.

Pacquiao's arrival in Vegas made impact


Tuesday when Manny Pacquiao arrived in Las Vegas for their fight versus Marco Antonia Barrera. Pacquiao fans and supporters gathered around to welcome our vicious fighter arrive in Vegas. The arrival of Pacquiao is more overwhelming compare to Barrera's arrival at Vegas. Pacquiao is accompanied by the "Golden Boy" Oscar Dela Hoya, owner of Golden Boy promotion, upon his arrival. Both fighters present them selves to the media in their fighting right. Pacquiao will continue traning in Vegas until their main event fight on October 6, 2007(October 7, 2007 Manila) in Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino in Las Vegas. All attention will be centered on the two fighters on the remaining days before the fight.

President Gloria Arroyo Cancels NBN/ZTE Deal

President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo dumped the $329.48-B NBN deal with China's ZTE company. Said to be canceled because of its political noise made by senators in the ZTE investigation. President Arroyo is in China right now where she will have a meeting with China's president Hu Jintao and will talk about Philippine-China deals. President Arroyo shut down the deal and China seems not to be effected by Mrs. Arroyo's decision. On the other hand, the Cyber-education project is suspended and may continue in the future when it is negotiated with our law makers. The Cyber-education project that cost $26-B is suspended together with other projects and the NBN deal.
