President Gloria Arroyo Cancels NBN/ZTE Deal

President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo dumped the $329.48-B NBN deal with China's ZTE company. Said to be canceled because of its political noise made by senators in the ZTE investigation. President Arroyo is in China right now where she will have a meeting with China's president Hu Jintao and will talk about Philippine-China deals. President Arroyo shut down the deal and China seems not to be effected by Mrs. Arroyo's decision. On the other hand, the Cyber-education project is suspended and may continue in the future when it is negotiated with our law makers. The Cyber-education project that cost $26-B is suspended together with other projects and the NBN deal.

It's a relief but somehow saddened coz it will make the country more competitive in the field of I.T. on the optimistic side.

I don't know why the government won't make up with our local companies for these deals. IT in our country is in it's peak. Me, I my self a Computer Science Student, Me and other IT professionals can team up together to bring up a backbone for our country. Same with the Cyber-education project, I can see it can less the expenses expected to be if such will be implemented using our own man-power and resources.
